As HMRC reminds those who complete self-assessments about their annual tax return deadline date, the PDA is reminding pharmacists that anyone who has worked from home may be eligible for tax relief.

Another success for pharmacists at Lloydspharmacy as trade union bargaining unit decided

Pharmacists at Lloyds have moved another step closer to securing an independent voice at work through their trade union, the PDAU. The Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) have decided which pharmacists will be in scope of union recognition; accepting in full the PDA proposal and rejecting entirely the company’s alternative.

PDA urge the GPhC to ensure there is a fair assessment process

Following the GPhC announcement confirming Pearson VUE as the regulator’s supplier for the 2021 registration assessment, members have been raising their concerns with the PDA regarding the computer-based company’s ability to deliver an efficient and fair examination process for provisionally registered pharmacists and re-sitters that have been waiting months to sit their assessment exam which was cancelled due to the pandemic.

PDA inspire new ophthalmic trade union

A group of optometrists have been inspired to create a trade union for their profession after learning about the work PDA do for pharmacists. The Prospect - Optometrist and Dispensing Optician Trade Union branch (POTU) is now founded and PDA wish them well as a colleague trade union.

High court legal victory strengthens health and safety rights for locum pharmacists

The PDA welcomes the High Court judgment secured by Independent Worker Union of Great Britain (IWGB), in support of its members, which extends health and safety rights to self-employed workers.

PDA calls on employers to support prov-reg pharmacists with the study and revision leave they need

From today, the online assessment for prov-regs and pre-reg resitters can now be announced with only two months’ notice. The cohort are concerned that their employers are becoming less supportive and may not agree to the exam preparation leave they need.
