PDA statement to the Williams review on the case of Dr Bawa-Garba and the disclosure of reflective accounts

Following the recent conviction and striking off of Dr Bawa-Garba, the government asked Professor Sir Norman Williams to conduct a rapid policy review into the issues relating to gross negligence manslaughter in healthcare. The PDA has responded to the review on behalf of members.

Revalidation

Pharmacists say basic safety standards are not met

The Pharmacists Defence Association (PDA) has released survey results that show seven basic standards of pharmacy safety are regularly not being met and is demanding action to protect patients, pharmacists and the tax payer.

Decriminalisation concerns – PDA writes to Pharmacy Minister

The PDA are concerned that the Rebalancing Board, charged with the responsibility to provide a wide ranging and appropriate amendment to the law, has failed to do so and has written to the Pharmacy Minister with an offer to help improve the situation.

Pay Gap is another reason for employers to work with Trade Unions

PDA Union issue qualified welcome to NHS pay rise

The PDA Union has made a qualified welcome to the government’s 6% pay increase for NHS employees over the next 3 years, saying it is a start but much more is needed to repair the decline in pharmacists’ real terms pay and the working environment.

2,780 Boots Pharmacists can make change happen

The PDA Union have announced that they will need at least 2,780 votes in favour of terminating an agreement that prevents Boots employees from securing an independent voice at work. Then, the PDA Union can apply for recognition as the independent trade union working on behalf of Boots pharmacists.
