NAWP encourages pharmacist employers to adopt the Safe Spaces scheme

Today is the beginning of 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, an annual campaign that calls for an end to violence against women and girls. Spanning across 16 days, the campaign begins on 25 November, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, and runs until 10 December, Human Rights Day. To mark the campaign, the PDA NAWP Network is highlighting Safe Spaces, a scheme that offers people experiencing domestic abuse a safe space to reach out for support.

My life as a pharmacist with multiple roles

Paul also shares how he believes there is more to life than just being part of a specific profession and how everyone should look after their mental, emotional, and spiritual needs.

PDA hosts member-exclusive event on Independent Prescribing

On Monday 11 November, the PDA held an online event to support members in deciding whether they want to become Independent Prescribers. The session featured PDA Director of Pharmacy, Jay Badenhorst who discussed his own experience of becoming an Independent Prescriber and offered further information and advice.

PDA Plus benefit helped members claim almost £15,000 in overpaid tax

The Tax Refund Company is a PDA Plus partner and has helped employed members recover over £15,000 in overpaid tax in the last 5 years after finding HMRC had given them the wrong tax codes.

PDA marks Equal Pay Day 2024

Equal Pay Day marks the day in the year when women, on average, stop earning money until the end of the year compared to men due to the gender pay gap. This year, Equal Pay Day falls on 20 November 2024, two days earlier than in 2023. This means that instead of making progress and reducing the gender pay gap, this has instead widened.

PDA responds to GPhC’s consultation on providing pharmacy services at a distance

The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) has been consulting between 18 September 2024 and 9 October 2024 on their changes to the ‘guidance for registered pharmacies providing pharmacy services at a distance, including on the internet’.

Superdrug agree to PDA Union’s bargaining unit proposals

A Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) hearing was cancelled after Superdrug management abandoned its efforts to exclude Senior Pharmacy Managers (SPM) from the bargaining unit proposed by the PDA.

PDA responds to NPA ballot results

The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) has today announced the results of a recent ballot where they asked their members in England, Northern Ireland, and Wales to vote on a series of actions in support of their call for governments to urgently increase investment in community pharmacy. The PDA is now updating its members on the outcome of the vote and providing comments on the proposed action.
