The ‘Shaping your career in pharmacy’ event delivered sessions to members in the early stages of their careers on non-clinical skills that are crucial to the pharmacy role. This included communication skills, resilience, and the ability to adapt to change.

The serious threat of AMR and how the PDA is helping in Ukraine

Last week, the PDA hosted a member exclusive event to detail some of its recent work in the Anti-Microbial Resistance (AMR) field. PDA Policy Officer, Tasnim Khan was joined by Specialist Antimicrobial Stewardship (AMS) pharmacist, Bee Yean Ng as they discussed the lessons learnt from Ukraine on managing the risk of AMR.

PDA motion passed at the ICTU Biennial Conference 2023

PDA National Officer for Northern Ireland, Una O’Farrell recently attended the Irish Congress of Trade Unions (ICTU) Biennial Conference. This was the ICTU’s first fully in-person conference since 2017 and the PDA presented a motion on ‘Fair Pay Now’ which was unanimously passed.

As a proud member of FIP, the PDA is sharing recent FIP reports to give members an insight into how pharmacy is managed in other countries and to share best practice.

PDA LGBT+ Network calls for equality in the workplace

In June, the Trades Union Congress (TUC) published a report titled ‘Being LGBT+ at Work: LGBT+ Workplace Experiences 2023’. The findings were based on qualitative research which aimed to uncover how much incorporating legal protections for LGBT+ workers has led to positive and inclusive workplace experiences.

PDA Regional Committees discuss the recent PDA general practice pharmacist work satisfaction survey

The PDA Regional Committees are all pharmacists and PDA members from across areas of pharmacy practice and are are elected to represent the wider PDA membership. They meet regularly to discuss current issues in pharmacy ahead of PDA National Executive Committee meetings.
