  The PDA welcomes Una O’Farrell, new Regional Official for Northern Ireland, who joins the Organising and Engagement department. Una, a community pharmacist locum who is passionate about pharmacy and pharmacist’s potential, will support PDA members in Northern Ireland, including co-ordinating the Regional Committee members who represent all sectors of pharmacy. 

• PDA welcomes £500 payment for Northern Ireland health workers

  The PDA Union, which represents pharmacists across the UK, has welcomed the announcement from Northern Ireland Health Minister Robin Swann that he intends to provide a one-off £500 special recognition payment to health and social care workers due to their work during the coronavirus pandemic.

• PDA Union and LloydsPharmacy issue joint statement on recognition talks

  PDA Union negotiators representing pharmacists at Lloyds Pharmacy have progressed talks with company representatives and the two sides have issued their first joint statement. 

• PDA Union announces recognition agreement covering pharmacists in Northern Ireland working for GP Federations

  This is the latest recognition agreement for the PDA Union which began negotiating terms for pharmacists via their groundbreaking agreement with Boots which was signed in 2019. 

• PDA supports citizen group petition to save community pharmacies from closure

  The PDA have added their support to a petition organised by Grassroots campaigning organisation, 38 Degrees, that calls on the Westminster government to recompense pharmacies for the extra costs they have incurred by staying open to provide health services during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

• Pay negotiations for former Boots pharmacists shows continuing benefit of PDA Union recognition

  The PDA Union continues to negotiate pay for members and has secured above-inflation increases for members whose employment with Boots transferred under TUPE to new employers in the NHS and Prison Service. 

• Another success for pharmacists at Lloydspharmacy as trade union bargaining unit decided

  Pharmacists at Lloyds have moved another step closer to securing an independent voice at work through their trade union, the PDAU. The Central Arbitration Committee (CAC) have decided which pharmacists will be in scope of union recognition; accepting in full the PDA proposal and rejecting entirely the company’s alternative. 

• PDA inspire new ophthalmic trade union

  A group of optometrists have been inspired to create a trade union for their profession after learning about the work PDA do for pharmacists. The Prospect - Optometrist and Dispensing Optician Trade Union branch (POTU) is now founded and PDA wish them well as a colleague trade union.
