PDA NAWP Network event unites women; building equality through connection and support

On 14 March 2026, the National Association of Women Pharmacists (NAWP) proudly hosted an International Women’s Day online event, centred around the theme “Give to Gain,” highlighting the power of mentorship, allyship, and collective support in advancing equality across the pharmacy profession.

The theme encouraged reflection on how giving time, knowledge, and advocacy can create lasting, meaningful, change for individuals and the wider professional pharmacy community.

The PDA NAWP Network were honoured to welcome Danielle Hunt, Chief Executive at Pharmacist Support, a PDA charity partner, as the keynote speaker. Danielle delivered an inspiring and heartfelt session, sharing her personal journey alongside the vital work her organisation undertakes to support the wellbeing of pharmacists and their families. Her message emphasised the importance of compassion, connection, and creating safe spaces, reminding us that when we support one another, we build stronger and more resilient communities.

Danielle shared, “It was a privilege to join the NAWP Network in celebrating the incredible women who keep our profession moving forward. By recognising the realities women face in the workplace and elevating the conversations around leadership, wellbeing, and women’s health, we create the conditions for meaningful progress. Creating workplace cultures focused on support and genuine recognition of the challenges women face is essential for building a thriving, equitable profession where everyone has the opportunity to grow and succeed.”

The event also featured an engaging International Women’s Day quiz, bringing energy and interaction to the session. Participants tested their knowledge, and NAWP were delighted to recognise the top three winners, Emeline Decque, Christine Heading, and Hazel Gueldner, who achieved outstanding scores and were awarded prizes.

A key highlight of the event was the interactive breakout sessions. These provided valuable opportunities for attendees to connect in smaller groups and explore themes such as “giving respect, truth, and justice”, “giving knowledge, mentoring and sponsorship”, and “giving safety, protection, and time.” Discussions were open, honest, and empowering, with attendees sharing personal experiences and insights, demonstrating the strength and impact of collective voices.

Hazel Gueldner, Honorary Secretary of the PDA Ability Network said, “A fabulous couple of hours with lovely people. Great quizzes, a range of topics discussed, and in-depth discussion of what we bring to the table through our experiences in the profession.”

The “Give to Gain” theme strongly aligned with the United Nations’ International Women’s Day focus on Rights, Justice, and Action, reinforcing the importance of turning shared experiences into meaningful change.

To close the event, attendees completed pledge cards, outlining how they would apply the theme in their personal and professional lives. These thoughtful commitments ensure the conversations continue to inspire action beyond the day itself.
