Boots pharmacists’ employment concerns as details of proposed hours reductions are revealed

Some PDA members employed at Boots are raising concerns that despite verbal assurances that the company aim to minimise pharmacist job losses, they are being told that proposed changes will reduce their income if they remain with the company.

Pharmacists have been on the front line during the pandemic working alongside trainee pharmacists and pharmacy students. The pharmacists' role in the healthcare sector has been key to the success of the vaccination campaign thus far by reassuring hesitant patients and administering first, second and booster vaccines.

PDA responds to the DHSC consultation on the NHS Pension Scheme

The scheme was launched in October 2021 and proposes to include basing members’ contribution rates on actual annual salaries and reducing the cross-subsidy between higher and lower earners.

Boots Pharmacists may be impacted by hours reduction

Some pharmacists and other staff at Boots are being notified this week of changes to opening hours at their place of work, with local briefings taking place. The PDA are supporting their members to deal with any potential impact on their employment.
