PDA exploring all options for pharmacist as pharmacy business faces insolvency

The PDA are exploring all options to ensure a pharmacist facing losing their job receives their full entitlement to compensation and pay, including owed holiday pay, after a pharmacy which is heading for insolvency told them to claim from the government for any monies owed.

Boots prison pharmacists to be transferred to Sodexo

Pharmacists employed by Boots in several prisons are having their employment transferred to a subsidiary of the French multinational Sodexo that provides custodial and post-release services to the UK Ministry of Justice, including directly managing several prisons.

PDA joins Prescription Charges Coalition

The PDA has joined the Prescription Charges Coalition, a group of 49 organisations calling on the Westminster Government to scrap prescription charges for people with long-term medical conditions in England.

More than a dispensing error – a family’s view

The following article gives the perspective of a next of kin following a dispensing error and was offered to us by the patient’s spouse. The PDA is regularly contacted about issues relating to pharmacy practice by those who have an interest. We are often told this is not just because we are the largest pharmacist membership organisation in the UK, but also due to our work where we prioritise patient safety and have no agenda beyond representing the interests of pharmacists.

Coroner highlights the role of poor medicines review in death of patient

The BMJ recently reported on the sad death of a patient who died of a tramadol overdose. The patient was found to have significant quantities of unused repeat medicines in their home.

Lloyds pharmacists raise concerns about change proposals
